Problem Solving Steps

  1. Identify and clearly state the problem.
Keep in mind this is about the practice of innovation not the venue for solving for your biggest or worst problem. Consider small simple problems for the sake of practice. If your team brought a complicated problem, consider scaling it down to one component of the issue. For more information about scaling the problem down, go to the tab "Framing Your Problem".

     2.  Identify three to six perspectives (i.e. dimensions, stakeholders, and context) from which to view your problem.

For more information about this component go the tab "Toolbox for Team Work".

     3.  Brainstorm ideas for addressing each of the perspectives you identify and design a solution prototype that incorporates the strengths of each idea.

For more information about this component go the tab "Toolbox for Team Work".

     4.  Design the model for how your solution will be implemented, distributed, and experienced by the user.  Essentially tell us how it would work.
